Washington, DC - Senator Elizabeth Warren in a recent interview on MSNBC claimed that she was not part of the 1% that she so frequently rails against. "I grew up poor on an Indian reservation, and we really had nothing but the skins on our back. I was able to pull myself out of that and marry into money. I didn't earn it nor inherit it like many of the 1% do. I used a time-honored tradition of marrying into money. That is a completely different scenario.”
Warren also stated that the top 1% can be ridiculed because of their values. "Not everyone who has a lot of money is part of what I call the one percent. If you have the correct value system in your life, you can easily be excluded from the top one percent. If you have the wrong values, you are definitely part of the top one percent and should be vilified and forced to pay your fair share." When asked to elaborate on her comment she continued "Many of the entertainers, musicians, rappers, professors etc. that may have and make a lot of money can be excluded because of their value system. Corporate CEOs of large corporations do not share those values, and therefore should be forced to pay their fair share.”
